Sloburn's last show and the March of Dimes

I’m a little late posting the blog from this weekend. Sue me, I had an exam and a paper to finish. Anyhow…

Sloburn’s last concert at Somewhere Else Tavern in Greensboro was Saturday night. My mom babysat, so we got to go and have a good time. The band was excellent, they put on a hell of a show, but then again they always put on a great show. Sly was AMAZING, she really did take center stage with this performance. Then again, she always seems to have a way with being in the spotlight, and I mean that in a good way, since she’s fucking gorgeous. Shane let her have the spotlight I think, since he and his boys will be performing in Drowning Delilah still, but Sly is just in Sloburn.

When I say they did a great show, I mean they really did great. My favorite song was the Munsters theme remix. Can we say bad ass?

They took tons of pics with friends and with the band after the show. It was a good time.

Sunday was the March of Dimes, and while I don’t have a ton to say about that, because it got rained out and no one wanted to walk in the rain… pussies… yeah, it was nice to donate time and money to such a good cause.

Randomness- 4/24/13

You know, I was going to do some interesting post about how to make the fettucine and alfredo with sautéed veggies that I made tonight, or something like that, but you know, I think it’s time for some meaningless blathering about my day.

Class was interesting, I had to present our group projects today, and I’m not going to lie, I HATE group projects. I always get some asshole who never wants to help in the group. And again, that was the case. She's just some girl who was more interested in her time in the rap studio and getting high than helping our group with the work. And I’m not gonna lie, it’s not normally something that bugs me. But, well, I snapped. Teacher asked me if she helped, and I just went OFF. “No she didn’t, she didn’t do a damn thing, didn’t contribute to shit, was never here, and was all around useless and left us high and dry when we needed her.”

Classmates were shocked, teacher was shocked, and my hand flew to my mouth in shock and horror. I seriously slipped, I did NOT mean to say that, especially out loud. I usually think it in my head and say something polite and nice out loud. Nope. I blew up a bit. My best friend, who’s in the class with me, she cracked up so bad.

I really didn’t mean to SAY that out loud.

The booger face was better today though, she’d been sick for over a week now. Snotty nose, gross crusty snot in her nose, coughing. It’s been pretty gross. But she was a LOT better today. And the earache she’s been having is also gone, so that’s awesome too. I’ve been a bit worried about her, but she did fine. The snot coming down her nose now is just allergies. I can’t wait for the pollen to go away.

OH Yeah! It’s finals time! WOO! Almost time for my 3 week break before summer semester, oh yeahhh! I’m pretty stoked about that, I needed a break.

Probably going to have something to post this weekend or earlier, since I have an awesome concert to head do (Sloburn is having their last concert. If you like heavy metal and you have time, google them. They’re pretty damn good) and Sunday the booger butt and I are doing March of Dimes.  So we have a busy weekend ahead.

Once Upon a Time S2 E19- 'Lacey'- Thoughts

I got to watch last week’s Once Upon a Time episode tonight. Can I just say, WOW? Now, OBVIOUSLY… Spoilers Ahead here.

I’m a HUGE Rumplestiltskin and Belle fan, so I was really hoping to see those two get back to where they were or at least kind of get back to that place… nope. Way to go, Regina, for being a bitch again. She just had to bring back Belle’s cursed memories to try and screw over any chance of Mr. Gold making her fall in love with him. Every time she tries to be good, she screws up and goes evil again.

Not to mention Belle's cursed persona is a freaking drunk. Really??

And how come everyone is blind to Tamara still? How has no one really figured out that she’s a bad person?? Emma figured out Regina was twisted and evil within ONE episode, but it’s been multiple episodes with Tamara and she still has no clue she’s got an ulterior motive?

As for them growing beans… come on, who else can see how something’s going to go wrong with that? Something bad always happens when it comes to the heroes going home. AND Regina found the beans… double whammy to the whole something shitty happening theory.

And then, Belle/Lacey gets all damp in the panties when she sees Mr. Gold beating the ever loving shit out of who I assume is the Sheriff of Nottingham. I knew he’d have to be evil or bad to get her to like him again, since that’s what she initially fell for and how she saw good in him, but really? Overkill much?

I don’t know. I’m still looking forward to the next 3 episodes. The finale’s name has me thinking they’ll be heading to Neverland… the first part of the finale is “Second star to the Right” and the second part is “And straight on til’ morning”.

Yeah, we’ll see how Neal is Peter Pan, and will lead our heroes to Neverland. I’ll bet money on it.

Obligatory Introduction Post

So do I need to think of a more clever name? No? Good, I was hoping you’d say that.

So, yeah, my name is Brandy. I was born and raised in this little crap hole of a town known as Danville. You’ll find it on the part of the map in Virginia that’s shaped like a flushing toilet… I’m almost 26, and about 10 years or so ago, I met the man I would eventually have a gorgeous daughter with. However, that didn’t start out that way, we started out in high school, as a regular couple that ended up splitting for a while, then after a LONG time, like about 3 years ago, we found each other again. We’ve been together with no real issues ever since.

21 months ago, I gave birth VIA C-section to the most wonderful, interesting, and unique kid that the world could offer. We named her Rayne Leigh, and she is our everything. She is the inspiration for a lot of what this blog will be, because every single day is a challenge when it comes to her.

I’m a college student, I’m studying to be an Early Childhood Educator. I love kids, so this was a great fit for me.

I love to cook, and I love making various mixed drinks. I also LOVE tattoos! I have a total of 4, two on my shoulders, one on my arm that I got for Rayne, and one that needs repair on my hip. (Thank you, kiddo, for stretching that out, I wasn’t that thrilled with that tattoo anyhow.)

My little brother is a US ARMY Soldier, and is shipping off to Korea pretty soon. I have a cousin who is a US ARMY soldier too, so I have a LOT of love and respect for the Military. They deserve all the support we can give them, because remember, they fight for your right to have various freedoms and to be an American.

Oh and I’m going to be up front, you’re probably going to see some political stuff on here too. I am a staunch believer of having the right person for the job, and honestly, I don’t think that’s what we have right now. If you can look past my opinion when it comes to that, I think you’ll like a lot of what I have to say.

I also love the Walking Dead, Glee, Once Upon a Time, and True Blood, I love Marvel comics and superhero movies (YAY NIGHTCRAWLER!), I listen to all kinds of music, and I read books faster than a LOT of people do.

I think that’s it for now. Do I need to go into more detail? No? Awesome!

L'Oreal Healthy Look Creme Gloss Color review

So the other day, my free L'oreal Paris Healthy Look coupon arrived in the mail, and to be honest, I was really excited. I hadn't colored my hair in a while, so the shine that comes with a good color job had faded, and my hair was looking a bit dull. I'm not even going to lie, it was really faded.

I'm big on do-it-yourself home color jobs, especially when they're done right and look fairly natural. (Except for purples and blues and whatnot. No one ever expects those to look natural, unless you were born on the planet from the Avatar movie.)

Well the other day, I took the plunge and used my coupon. I brought it home, and decided on my next wash day, since we don't wash hair daily here, that I would be using my color. That day was today.

I got the munchkin up and fed, and while she was playing in her room, I started my prep, and I snapped a pic to show what we were starting out with. Don't mind the lack of makeup, it was fairly early this morning.

Yeah, not kidding when I said it was pretty blah. I'm not huge on my natural brunette shade...

I used this here:

And I applied vigorously all over my hair. Anyone who's ever used an at-home hair color knows how that process works.

(Woot for looking exhausted and make-up free in the AM)

I waited past the 10 minute mark that it gave on the packaging, simply because my hair is notorious for needing more than the recommended time to color. It always takes 5-10 minutes longer. I rinsed, used the conditioner that came with it, and styled, and voila! I do have to say, it came out lovely.

It definitely told the truth on the package! It added a glossy sheen to my hair, it was honestly easier to style, and the color is absolutely lovely. I really can't complain about it at all, it was easier than a lot of box colors and it was a LOT faster than a lot of box colors. The color is supposed to last through 28 washes, so we'll see how long it lasts. If it washes out in a little over a month or so, then that's actually pretty good, it gives you a chance to either try a new color or touch up and get the same results.

But yeah, no complaints here!
